Kota’s Class
Hi all,
Remember when we were in school if we talked in class, our teachers used to make us stand up or come and stand near her desk, kneel down near her desk, stand outside the class and all those sorts of punishments? Nostalgic memories aren’t they?
Well, now imagine there was a teacher or lecturer who never asked you to stand up or come to the front and all that happened cause we always wanted to see what he had to show.
Mr. Kota, Senior Director, Rubecon Communications made us all do just that. He was talking to us about different kinds of paper and different kinds of prints during one of his few sessions and we were standing around his table for one and half hours and we were examining the samples that he had bought. I vividly remember another session of his which was fully based on fonts and color alone and he finished the session by saying that he had just touched the tip of the ice berg.
During his first session for us, he made us all walk around and outside our class and take pictures with our mobile or draw. We were to take snaps of real things that resembled like alphabets and we were allowed to shoot or draw for fifteen minutes.
If any of you are lucky enough to have his class, make sure you request Mr. Joe to give a lot of his classes.
The photos below are of a session on photography(forgot to mention, he’s also a photographer with vast experience). He had brought his old Hasselblad camera which he made us all look through. For me, it was like punishment cause I had the misfortune to look through my camera and then his camera and then my camera again. I’ve a Fuji digital camera, 6.3 mp and it was nothing short of dust in front of the Hasselblad.
- Kota – Sr creative Director, Rubecon
- Out with the cameras
- Ganesh: Aah… My forte… Cameras, Lights and a Great Model (Me)
- Cameras Old and New – and the projector of our class.
- Mr. Kota assembling a Hasselblad Camera… He told us that he took a loan to buy this camera.
- The Hasselblad Camera almost assembled. It was beautiful looking through it.
- An ever patient teacher. He always explained stuff until we understood it. Made it look simple and umcomplicated
- Aruna looking through the Hasselblad Camera.
- Explaining angles and light reflections.

hi varun,
being a content writer depends on your creativity. studying at ad club can help you in certain ways like how to crack a brief. you will learn different perspectives because lots of creative people will come to give lectures. you ll get to see a lot of ads and how they evolved. you ll get to know about different kinds of campaigns and the idea behind them. understanding different kinds of copy and things like that. will be helpful a lot. but in the end, being creative is a skill, a skill that can one rarely learn but is acquired naturally or over a period of time.
Cheers
