Ad Club Madras’s Blog

The commencing of a blog, Maturity comes with time.

Happy Birthday to Shan & Aruna

Yesterday it was a birthday of Aruna and Shanmughanandam. It was kind of surprise for me because yesterday was our last day in ad club so we got a good reason to celebrate.

For this birthday i decided to do something different other than just eating the cake and pose for the photos. So this time i decided to give gifts to these b’day guys.

Shanmughanandam is working in a Indian Express in a managerial level ,who is in his 30’s so there is no better option for me than giving him a book.

I hope this book will help him especially during this time to tackle the bloody recession.

Aruna is in her 20’s. For her i decide to give a gold plated coin having 24-carat gold plated image of Saraswathi . There is no good gift than this for gals because it have some kind of gold in it.

But the packet is too small so i decide to do something to make my gift look big.

When i was searching for a box i couldn’t find anything other than a Wills cigarette packet, so i decided to put this small gift into this packet.

But it was not looking so good, then i decide to do some make over on this wills packet and i got something like this.

Then i bought a gift wrapping paper from Landmark and wrapped these gift from there itself.

Wish You many many happy returns of the day…………….

So guys and gals be my friend i can make you happy as much as i can.

(Special Note: Those Who came for the Business Line Quiz shouldn’t make any comments here…haha)

What I will miss…

Hi all,

Yesterday was my last evening at Ad Club Madras as a student. No clichéd tearful goodbyes. There were a few hugs between the girls though. We had no class yesterday; we were only given our internship letters so that we may start our internships. So officially, Kiruba Shankar’s class on Thursday was the last class.

Aruna and Shanmughanandam celebrated their birthday yesterday. We bought cake, Aruna blew out the candles and Shanmughanandam cut the cake. That was a much better deal than that of Pooja and Harish both blowing out the candles and cutting the cake together. But that was kinda cute in a way too.

Now comes the hard part… I really don’t know what to write or rather, I really don’t know how to put to words what I feel. One of my daily routines when I was attending classes was that I used to call Ad Club everyday and find out what class we had and then message to everyone so that they’d come.

It became so much of a routine that when I missed it cause I was too busy at work, I used to get messages from some of them asking what class it was and the rest who came to class would ask me why I hadn’t sent them the message. I’ll certainly miss that. I hope I remember not to call Ad Club Monday onwards for class details.

Maybe I’ll continue to send messages to all my class mates regarding something. Can be anything. Just because the classes have ended doesn’t mean that I can’t them all something informative. Probably send them bits of information that I’d like all of them to know every once in a while.

Every evening, I was always eager to finish work by five thirty or six so that I could make it to class by six thirty. There were some defaults no doubt because of some work or the other but I can proudly say that I never missed a single class. Now I am not saying that I am nerd or anything but the thing is that I really screwed up my B.com and I didn’t want to commit the same mistake again.

Anyway, I’m going to miss being eager to go to class to meet my friends, I’m going to miss trying to finish my work within 6. I’m going to miss signing my initials on the attendance book. And most of all, I’m going to miss learning. Learning that I really enjoyed.

Again, I am not a nerd or anything but for me learning meant answering many of the “WHY” questions. Why does something happen? Why do customers and clients think in a certain way? Why does an advertisement or marketing gimmick bomb? Why do some publicity gimmicks catch the eye of the public? So many questions arise and are answered under the guidance of those who got it right and many who learnt it the hard way. So many questions that were answered only through sheer logic and not theoretical know how.

I have a lot more to say but I’ll continue in my next post because this is getting awfully long and I don’t want to keep ranting on and on in a single post. I’ll finish what I’ve got to say over the next few posts though. I hope you’ll enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing what I’ve been a part of… Happy Times.

Cheers

Karthik
