To Begin – Again
Hi,
It’s been a long time since I posted last here and an even longer period since I wrote myself. Lots of things have happened over the past two to three months, many of which should have been on this blog the same day they happened but they have not only due to sheer procrastination.
I joined an advertising agency called Sreshta Communications as an Accounts Executive on the 12th of December. I’ve been keeping pretty busy but I sure can say, I always had the time to write and post. I am not going to blame my work, I’d rather take the blame myself, I’ve been pretty lazy when it came to blogging and now I am trying to change that.
So that’s one thing, me getting a job. Work’s been pretty much fun. I could use a lot of what I learnt in class in my work. I guess that’s only because I was taught by working professionals who weren’t teaching, rather telling us what was happening in agencies and what we should be wary about and stuff like that.
My birthday was on the 10th of December and the guys and girls here surprised me with a cake and we had a gala time. I ought to be honest with you people, this was the second surprise party in my life and the first one was the year before. The common thing between these two parties was that, these two were the only times I ever felt bashful and that’s something that rarely happens to me. Anyway, great party, loads of photos, so I’ll put them up soon.
Kiruba Shankar, one of our lecturers and founder of the Wikipedia Academy in Chennai had the academy inaugurated by none other than Jimmy Wales himself. But that bit was posted in the blog by a friend. So big thanks to Shiju for that.
We, at club planned and carried out a surprise party for him. Full details and pictures of the party will be posted here pretty soon.
Not to forget the great rains in December that completely flooded the city. I live near the beach and during one of these stormy nights, when it had stopped raining for a few minutes, I went to the beach to see what it was like and what I saw was amazing and frightening at the same time.
The sky was black (no surprises there), and sea was dark grey and it was churning like crazy. The whole water front was filled with some kind foam, the kind that you find in your washing machine if you put in an excess of detergent. The sea had cut into the beach forming mini lagoons. And the sea was spitting out all the garbage that we have been dumping into it. Reminded me of the phrase “Nature’s Fury”. Classes were cancelled for quite a few days then. I almost damaged my bike travelling to class in knee deep water. I was scared that the water would enter the engine or something like that cause the engine was almost submerged under water. Anyways, the ol’ boy survived.
I think that’s all I can remember for now so if I remember anything else, I’ll surely put it up. I hope I don’t stop posting for this blog until someone forces me to it. Finally, a very big Thank You to the guy who has made me start up writing here again when I stopped. What you did, meant a lot.
Karthik
