Kota’s Class
Hi all,
Remember when we were in school if we talked in class, our teachers used to make us stand up or come and stand near her desk, kneel down near her desk, stand outside the class and all those sorts of punishments? Nostalgic memories aren’t they?
Well, now imagine there was a teacher or lecturer who never asked you to stand up or come to the front and all that happened cause we always wanted to see what he had to show.
Mr. Kota, Senior Director, Rubecon Communications made us all do just that. He was talking to us about different kinds of paper and different kinds of prints during one of his few sessions and we were standing around his table for one and half hours and we were examining the samples that he had bought. I vividly remember another session of his which was fully based on fonts and color alone and he finished the session by saying that he had just touched the tip of the ice berg.
During his first session for us, he made us all walk around and outside our class and take pictures with our mobile or draw. We were to take snaps of real things that resembled like alphabets and we were allowed to shoot or draw for fifteen minutes.
If any of you are lucky enough to have his class, make sure you request Mr. Joe to give a lot of his classes.
The photos below are of a session on photography(forgot to mention, he’s also a photographer with vast experience). He had brought his old Hasselblad camera which he made us all look through. For me, it was like punishment cause I had the misfortune to look through my camera and then his camera and then my camera again. I’ve a Fuji digital camera, 6.3 mp and it was nothing short of dust in front of the Hasselblad.
- Kota – Sr creative Director, Rubecon
- Out with the cameras
- Ganesh: Aah… My forte… Cameras, Lights and a Great Model (Me)
- Cameras Old and New – and the projector of our class.
- Mr. Kota assembling a Hasselblad Camera… He told us that he took a loan to buy this camera.
- The Hasselblad Camera almost assembled. It was beautiful looking through it.
- An ever patient teacher. He always explained stuff until we understood it. Made it look simple and umcomplicated
- Aruna looking through the Hasselblad Camera.

Happy Birthday to Shan & Aruna

Yesterday it was a birthday of Aruna and Shanmughanandam. It was kind of surprise for me because yesterday was our last day in ad club so we got a good reason to celebrate.
For this birthday i decided to do something different other than just eating the cake and pose for the photos. So this time i decided to give gifts to these b’day guys.
Shanmughanandam is working in a Indian Express in a managerial level ,who is in his 30’s so there is no better option for me than giving him a book.
I hope this book will help him especially during this time to tackle the bloody recession.
Aruna is in her 20’s. For her i decide to give a gold plated coin having 24-carat gold plated image of Saraswathi . There is no good gift than this for gals because it have some kind of gold in it.
But the packet is too small so i decide to do something to make my gift look big.
When i was searching for a box i couldn’t find anything other than a Wills cigarette packet, so i decided to put this small gift into this packet.
But it was not looking so good, then i decide to do some make over on this wills packet and i got something like this.

Then i bought a gift wrapping paper from Landmark and wrapped these gift from there itself.
Wish You many many happy returns of the day…………….
So guys and gals be my friend i can make you happy as much as i can.
(Special Note: Those Who came for the Business Line Quiz shouldn’t make any comments here…haha)

What I will miss…
Hi all,
Yesterday was my last evening at Ad Club Madras as a student. No clichéd tearful goodbyes. There were a few hugs between the girls though. We had no class yesterday; we were only given our internship letters so that we may start our internships. So officially, Kiruba Shankar’s class on Thursday was the last class.
Aruna and Shanmughanandam celebrated their birthday yesterday. We bought cake, Aruna blew out the candles and Shanmughanandam cut the cake. That was a much better deal than that of Pooja and Harish both blowing out the candles and cutting the cake together. But that was kinda cute in a way too.
Now comes the hard part… I really don’t know what to write or rather, I really don’t know how to put to words what I feel. One of my daily routines when I was attending classes was that I used to call Ad Club everyday and find out what class we had and then message to everyone so that they’d come.
It became so much of a routine that when I missed it cause I was too busy at work, I used to get messages from some of them asking what class it was and the rest who came to class would ask me why I hadn’t sent them the message. I’ll certainly miss that. I hope I remember not to call Ad Club Monday onwards for class details.
Maybe I’ll continue to send messages to all my class mates regarding something. Can be anything. Just because the classes have ended doesn’t mean that I can’t them all something informative. Probably send them bits of information that I’d like all of them to know every once in a while.
Every evening, I was always eager to finish work by five thirty or six so that I could make it to class by six thirty. There were some defaults no doubt because of some work or the other but I can proudly say that I never missed a single class. Now I am not saying that I am nerd or anything but the thing is that I really screwed up my B.com and I didn’t want to commit the same mistake again.
Anyway, I’m going to miss being eager to go to class to meet my friends, I’m going to miss trying to finish my work within 6. I’m going to miss signing my initials on the attendance book. And most of all, I’m going to miss learning. Learning that I really enjoyed.
Again, I am not a nerd or anything but for me learning meant answering many of the “WHY” questions. Why does something happen? Why do customers and clients think in a certain way? Why does an advertisement or marketing gimmick bomb? Why do some publicity gimmicks catch the eye of the public? So many questions arise and are answered under the guidance of those who got it right and many who learnt it the hard way. So many questions that were answered only through sheer logic and not theoretical know how.
I have a lot more to say but I’ll continue in my next post because this is getting awfully long and I don’t want to keep ranting on and on in a single post. I’ll finish what I’ve got to say over the next few posts though. I hope you’ll enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing what I’ve been a part of… Happy Times.
Cheers

Back to home…
Eventhough fever ruined major portion of my xmas holiday i could take some beautiful pics of my hometown.

This is a one way to Kunnath Temple, but i could find disposable glasses, empty bottles of drinks in this way.
.
I think it was used for keep drinking water for the travellers.

It is a official pool of a temple, earlier it was heaven for the guys in these area because of “kuliseen” but unfortunatelly nobody use this pool. (*kuliseen= Watching gals when they bathing without their knowldge)
This is a way to temple, a great treadmill you can ever see in this world. More than 150 steps.
“Bright” B

It was surprise for all the ad club students who attend the Business line quiz that Balaji got a audience prize because any of us except him cant gave a right answer.
Getting a audience prize was bit difficult because nearly 20 to 30 people raise their hands and the quiz master choose one.
Surprisingly he answered the toughest one, they called it as a theme round. In this round quiz master gave 5 question and we have to find the answers and these answers will give the theme. I think his engineering background did help him to got this answer.
So i would like to say thank him for making us proud that someone from our batch also having this kind of talent

(i hope one day Balaji will invite me to his home and offer a lunch)
Warren Buffet’s Advice
Heya ppl,
Have you ever noticed that when ever we are given advice, the chances that we will listen to them depend on how much we like them or how successful they are.
Here is some advice from Warren Buffet that I got through email. Now I am not sure whether Warren Buffet really did say all of this or whether some guy is just passing around stuff but some of these make sense. So assuming that all this was really said by Warren Buffet, let’s try to get them into our daily lives.
We begin this New Year with dampened enthusiasm and dented optimism. Our happiness is diluted and our peace is threatened by the financial illness that has infected our families, organizations and nations. Everyone is desperate to find a remedy that will cure their financial illness and help them recover their financial health. They expect the financial experts to provide them with remedies, forgetting the fact that it is these experts who created this financial mess. Every new year, I adopt a couple of maxims as my beacons to guide my future. This self-prescribed therapy has ensured that with each passing year, I grow wiser and not older.
This year, I invite you to tap into the financial wisdom of our elders along with me and become financially wiser.
Hard work: All hard work being a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
Laziness: A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current.
Earnings: Never depend on a single source of income. (At least make your investments get you second earning.)
Spending: If you buy things you don’t need, you’ll soon sell things that you need.
Saving: Don’t save what is left after spending. Spend what is left after saving.
Borrowings: The borrower becomes the lender’s slave.
Accounting: It’s no use carrying an umbrella, if your shoes are leaking.
Auditing: Beware of little expense. A small leak can sink a large ship.
Risk-taking: Never test the depth of the river with both feet. (Have n alternate plan ready.)
Investment: Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
I’m certain that those who have already been practicing these principles remain financially healthy. I’m equally confident that those who resolve to start practicing will quickly regain their financial health. Let us become wiser and lead a happy, prosperous and peaceful life.
